Le bois emprisonne du CO2 (1m3 de bois stocke 1 tonne de carbone) tout au long de sa croissance, le choisir comme matériau de construction, c’est contribuer à la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique. Le bois est aussi recyclable pour ensuite être employé dans la production d’énergie, dans la micro-cogénération, dans la production de cellulose pour la fabrication d’objets (automobile, éolien etc…).
Le préjugé populaire des trois petits cochons expliquant que la maison en bois est moins résistante que la maison en pierre est en réalité faux. La performance d’un matériau de construction à la résistance est un rapport entre sa densité et sa résistance (béton : 12 / acier : 46 / bois : 42). Le bois est aujourd’hui en plein essor, la construction d’immeuble en bois est de plus en plus d’actualité (Hyperion : 57m de hauteur à Bordeaux).
Si le bois est utilisé dans votre cheminée pour vous chauffer c’est par ce qu’il résiste longtemps à la combustion. Au contact des flammes, le bois crée naturellement une couche protectrice isolante (le charbon) pour protéger le cœur du bois de la combustion.
Grâce à la légèreté du bois, les éléments de construction sont préfabriqués à l’atelier et transportés jusqu’au chantier pour une pose rapide en sécurité.

FERMETTE
La fermette, à l’inverse de la charpente traditionnelle, est produite de
façon industrielle. Les bois sont de faibles sections rapprochés et assemblés à l’aide de connecteurs métalliques. L’installation de la fermette est bien plus rapide que la traditionnelle.
